D. Carnes
Charles “DC” Carnes has been a professional guitarist for about
25 years and has been the second guitarist in the band of blues
legend Robert Lockwood, Jr. for almost 15 years.
DC also fronts his own band DC and the Continentals.
DC and the Continentals perform a unique
blend of
Chicago
blues, Soul, and Rhythm & Blues. DC is a talented guitarist and
has a style that is deeply rooted in traditional blues, yet is still
fresh and original. DC sites Lockwood, Earl Hooker, and B.B. King as
some of his main influences. Other influences include Charlie
Christian, Chet Adkins, and Walter “Wolfman” Washington.
DC and the Continentals have an ensemble
approach (something he has learned from his employment in the
Lockwood band) with DC sharing vocal duties and solos with his band
mates. The band is continually changing their show and it is not
uncommon to have additional musicians sit in from time to time.
DC and the Continentals have a strong
regional following that continues to grow. The band plays regularly
and has opened for acts as varied as Rare Earth and the late Albert
Collins. For a complete Blues, and Rhythm & Blues show, look no
further than DC and the Continentals.
